Dr. Sclafani recently travelled to Abu Dhabi to present his experiences in treating children with craniofacial deformities as part of the NY- Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Craniofacial Team.  At the 9th International Pediatric Conference of Kids Heart Medical Center and New York- Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, he discussed how a team-based approach benefits children with craniofacial deformities, including cleft lip and palate.  He also lectured on correction of congenital ear deformities and was asked to reprise this lecture later in the conference.


Providing Care within the New York- Presbyterian System

(March 2018) –In order to continue to offer my patients the highest level of care and the latest and most effective cosmetic and reconstructive facial treatments, I am pleased to offer services as part of the Department of Otolaryngology- Head & Neck Surgery at New York- Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center as the Director of Facial Plastic Surgery.  New York-Presbyterian’s dedication to providing patient-centered care of the highest quality is a perfect environment in which I can care for my patients and allows me to partner with colleagues from my and other departments in a world- class system to deliver true state-of-the-art medical care.  As Professor of Otolaryngology at Weill Cornell Medical College, this opportunity has allowed me to continue to focus on patient care and teaching, and additionally has provided me with opportunities for collaborative research in the Medical College. I am pleased to continue to provide patient care in a state-of-the-art facility on the Upper East Side of Manhattan as well as continuing to care for patients in the Chappaqua office.


Dr. Sclafani Appointed Senior Examiner

(November 2017)  Dr Sclafani has been appointed as a Senior Examiner of the American Board of Otolaryngology for Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  Only a handful of Board-certified surgeons are selected as senior examiner and are responsible for writing and administering the oral examination to physicians seeking board certification in otolaryngology.  As part of this exam, Dr. Sclafani and colleagues administer a 4- hour oral examination covering all aspects of the clinical practice of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.


New Textbook on Rhinoplasty!

(April 2015)  Dr. Sclafani has recently published a new textbook on rhinoplasty.  Assembling an internationally known group of more than 100 facial plastic surgeons, Dr. Sclafani has compiled a comprehensive textbook entitled, Rhinoplasty: The Experts’ Reference.  Each section of the textbook focuses on a specific aspect of rhinoplasty, with each chapter concentrating on surgical solutions to complex treatment.

New Textbook Published: Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

November 2015)  Dr. Sclafani has recently edited a comprehensive volume dedicated to facial plastic and reconstructive surgery as part of a six volume set covering all of otolaryngology.   Sataloff's Comprehensive Textbook of Otolaryngology: Head & Neck Surgery - Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, published by JP Medical, Publishers Ltd., covers the cosmetic, functional and reconstructive aspects of facial plastic surgery.  This volume will become the “go to” reference for phyisicians practicing facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and complements the companion book Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (Surgical Techniques in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery).

(December 2014)  Dr. Sclafani has recently published a comprehensive textbook on otolaryngology in conjunction with Thieme Medical Publishers. Total Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery covers all aspects of otolaryngology and is designed to serve as a reference to practicing and in-training otolaryngologists around the world. As Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Sclafani assembled a cast of prominent otolaryngologists from North America to present the most up-to-date review of the anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical and surgical treatments of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck, and wrote a substantial portion of the facial plastic and reconstructive surgery section himself. New Textbook: Aesthetic Surgery of the Forehead and Upper Third of the Face by PMPH-USA

(January 2012)   We are proud to announce the publication of Dr. Sclafani's textbook Aesthetic Surgery of the Forehead and Upper Third of the Face by PMPH-USA.  This textbook is published as part of the Thomas Procedures in Facial Plastic Surgery series, a new comprehensive collection of seven volumes covering all aspects of cosmetic care of the face, head and neck.


Dr. Sclafani's textbook details the surgical and non-surgical treatments available to improve the appearance of the forehead, eyes and eyebrows, including forehead and brow lifting surgical techniques, minimally invasive treatments and non-surgical treatments such as Botox, Dysport and Retylane, and is illustrated with anatomic drawings and dissections as well as pre-, intra- and post- operative photographs.  This textbook will educate other surgeons on the wide array of treatments available for the upper part of the face.
